Hummus is a Middle Eastern dip/paste made with chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon and garlic. Store-bought hummus is generally full of refined oils, and preservatives. This easy recipe is made with healthy ingredients and it tastes much better than anything you can find at the store!
-1 jar Clearspring chickpeas (liquid reserved)
-¼ cup (60 ml) chickpea liquid
-¼ cup (30 g) Bio Today Tahini
-2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
-1 garlic clove
-½ teaspoon cumin (optional)
Blend all ingredients except for olive oil in a high-powdered blender*. Lower the speed and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil slowly until the mixture becomes softer**. You can add more chickpea liquid if desired.
*Alternatively you can use a standard hand blender, however consistency will not be the same.
**If using a standard hand blender, you can skip this step and simply mix everything together at once.
To serve: garnish with some olive oil and paprika. Enjoy as a snack with raw vegetables such as cucumber or carrots, on toast, or on salad bowls!
Hummus will keep for up to a week in an air tight container.
